In episode 12 of My Unfair Lady, Gordon Man (Frankie Lam) reveals to Saving (Vincent Wong) why he returned to Hong Kong and that he still loves Molly.
Saving: Why didn’t you just continue being a jerk? Why did you come back?
Gordon: Last year I was involved in a car accident. I was hit by a car. I remember at that moment I really thought I was going to die. In my mind, only one person kept appearing. That is [Molly]. I couldn’t explain it, but at that moment, I really missed her. I really wanted to see her. That is why, even though I was in so much pain and could not open my eyes, I still called her.
Saving: Missing her even before death? That means you really love her. Did she pick up your call? What was her reaction?
Gordon: She didn’t pick up the phone. After my surgery, I didn’t call her again.
Gordon: Not sure why I bumped into her in Shanghai. But I found out she never let go of our relationship. So I told myself, no matter what, I cannot repeat the same mistake. This time, I must go even harsher.
In episode 11 of My Unfair Lady, Cherry Ling (Natalie Tong) and Saving (Vincent Wong) decide to put aside marriage and just date for now.
Saving: When I first received your message, I thought it would be wasteful to turn on the air-conditioner if no one was home. I wanted to reply to you right away, but I didn’t because I knew you had other thoughts behind that. You did not reject me. You were giving me a chance. So I was thinking how should I reply to that message. Actually, it is my wrongdoing, because if it wasn’t for me, the room would not be so humid. I committed a wrongdoing, so I needed to resolve that. I know you need a man who is responsible and willing to take responsibility. I will try hard to do that.
Cherry: I was afraid you did not understand my message. All along, I thought we only had two choices: either to marry or not to marry. But I really didn’t want to let go.
Saving: Then you told me to pick a watermelon. I was thinking if it was a fruit salad, it would be very dry and lonely. Half a watermelon would not be fresh. So you actually wanted a whole watermelon. You wanted someone who would help you to carry things. I picked a 70 kilograms watermelon because I wanted to tell you that no matter what obstacles or sadness you face in life, I will face them with you. I will share the obstacles with you, so you only have to face half. I will share happiness with you, so we have double the happiness. I hope I can be your ideal candidate. So for our third choice, can we temporarily put aside the word ‘marriage’ and happily accept our love?
In episode 10 of My Unfair Lady, Molly Ling (Jessica Hsuan) confronts Tian Mi (Samantha Ko) about getting too close to their CEO Yam Gor (Vincent Lam), only to find out that she is now his personal assistant.
Molly: You ask him how many companies have approached me in these ten years. Ask him if he knows how many headhunter companies have approached me to switch companies. He should be crystal clear. But I didn’t leave because I hate it when people switch sides. When he was doing well, I didn’t leech off of him. When he lost power, I didn’t leave him. If I follow [a boss], I follow them for life. Yam Gor has today’s position because of me. Even he can say I helped him to build it.
Tian Mi: Molly, do you think Yam Gor is smart? You followed a simple boss only because you want to easily control everything. But no worries, I won’t tell him this. What you wanted to tell him, I won’t tell him either.
Molly: Tian Mi…
Tian Mi: Today isn’t the same anymore. If I were you, I would not do so many things. Be more low-key and low-profile. Guard those six malls or else you will lose them too.
Molly: Do you know what you are talking about? How dare you say these things to me? I don’t care what your relationship with Yam Gor is, but remember I am your supervisor.
Tian Mi: Sorry, I forgot to tell you. My supervisor is now Yam Gor. He always wanted to hire an assistant. On the flight en route to San Francisco, he conducted an interview with me. He is very satisfied with my performance. He has already informed Suzanna. I think you will receive an email shortly.
Molly: What assistant?
Tian Mi: Personal assistant. From today onwards, you can contact me if you want to see Yam Gor. I will build his schedule every day.
In episode 9 of My Unfair Lady, Cherry Ling (Natalie Tong) and Saving (Vincent Wong) look into each other’s eyes for five seconds, to which Cherry takes the initiative to kiss him.
Cherry: Really? Lying down here is really that comfortable? What’s up? You do not want to break Rule #4 of the Cohabitation Contract?
Saving: You looked at my stuff?
Cherry: Didn’t you say accidental or on purpose bodily contacts are silly? And looking in the eyes for more than five seconds will cause an eye strain?
Saving: You looked at my secret?
Cherry: I didn’t look.
Saving: That’s very immoral.
Cherry: You forgot to close your door.
Saving: I closed my door. I definitely closed my door.
Cherry: You didn’t.
Saving: So you saw everything?
Cherry: Yeah. Actually, my cousin is quite weird.
Cherry: Something will happen [if we look into each other’s eyes] for five seconds?
Saving: Will we lose some flesh for staring into each other’s eyes for five seconds?
In episode 8 of My Unfair Lady, Cherry Ling (Natalie Tong) hears the backstory to why Saving (Vincent Wong) does not want to get married. He tells her the last time he was about to get married, he started to get panic attacks and ended up not marrying his ex-girlfriend. And because of this, although he knew he started to have feelings for Cherry, he quickly fled to Taiwan to avoid her.
Cherry: So, this time, you suddenly left…
Saving: You know when you sleep, you snore a little. I find that very cute, making me want to protect you. I think this feeling is called having feel. That is why I have to avoid you. Saying what I cannot do, I cannot allow myself to do that for a second time, because you are a girl who needs to get married, right?
In episode 7 of My Unfair Lady, Cherry Ling (Natalie Tong) tells her cousin Molly Ling (Jessica Hsuan) what she thinks of love and what women want in general.
Cherry: Me leaving might actually be better for you. Your father is right. What do women want at the very end? They just want a family and want to get married. Although we have been lied to by men, we cannot lose confidence in love. You are so smart. You should not be affected by Gordon. Don’t say you will just marry the company. In Hong Kong, one in every three women above the age of 30 does not get married. We cannot be that one. If my advice is worth listening to, then take it as advice. If not, treat my words as rubbish.
Molly: Right or wrong, you just care about me. Before on the phone you told me that Saving (Vincent Wong) helped you to kick out Hanson (Chris Lai). And he is moving in with you. You and him…?
Cherry: We have nothing. He bought Hanson’s half share of the property as an investment. Nothing else.
Molly: You just broke up with Hanson. Don’t choose the wrong person again. Do not pick someone so poor like Saving. But, he has good traits too: tall, strong, and easy to ask for her. Call him to help you move things!
Cherry: Ok! He loves to help people! I’ll call him.
In episode 6 of My Unfair Lady, Cherry Ling (Natalie Tong) finds Saving Cheng (Vincent Wong) at her apartment door, only to find that he bought the other half of the property from her ex-boyfriend Hanson Ho (Chris Lai).
Cherry: They left! But they sold their half of this property!
Saving: You have so many pairs of keys. Give me one.
Cherry: Why should I…? Why do you have so many things? You have money to buy?
Saving: Listen. In the Oxford English Dictionary, ‘saving’ means: frugal, money savings, and to rescue. If all the financial savings are gone, then I’ll just save up again. I said I would help you. I do what I say!
