In episode 5 of My Unfair Lady, Molly Ling (Jessica Hsuan) is unhappy that Tian Mi (Samantha Ko) voted for Gordon instead of her, but Tian Mi tells her she was only trying to help her. Molly decides to use Tian Mi to get more of Gordon’s information.
Tian Mi: Now, in a company, employees should not be like a family. They should be like a soccer team. It’s a union, and when they work together well, everyone increases in value. I did this so you can become the company’s MVP (Most Valuable Player).
Molly: I’ve been in this industry for so many years. You have not even passed your probation. How can you help me to add value? I see you’ve just started playing ball and want to switch teams instead.
Tian Mi: You are one of the top professionals of the industry. I joined the company because I wanted to learn from you. This has not changed at all. But Molly, you really have to trust me this time. Think about it. If I voted for you, the result would be 6-6. Then what would happen? You will tell Cherry to call Mr. Yau (Andrew Yuen) to ask what happens if there is a tie.
Molly: What’s the problem there?
Tian Mi: The problem is every boss has their limits. He put Gordon here as a signal for you. If you force him to pick one among two, how do you think he will choose?
You did not utilize all your skills this time because the competitor is Gordon (Frankie Lam). He made you mess up. So before, I actually helped you by voting for him.
Tian Mi: I voted for him in front of you. He will naturally have good feelings for me. He will talk to me more and from there we can interpret his thinking. There’s a saying: know your competitors and win the war.
Molly: That’s right. You have no difficulty to get close with him. He cannot avoid temptation of Mainland China women. He likes their gentleness and flirting.
Tian Mi: I think you hired me originally because of my beauty and ability to talk. You knew I would be useful one day. Now, you can use me.
In episode 4 of My Unfair Lady, Molly Ling (Jessica Hsuan) gets furious at Gordon Man (Frankie Lam) when he tries to take all the credit, although Molly’s team had composed an entire binder for the proposal, while Gordon only had two pages.
Molly: Yam Gor (Vincent Lam), what do mean Gordon and my proposal? What do you mean by I have to go by him? My proposal had over 200 pages: research, data, execution, and everything. His [proposal] only had two pages. Even you asked if that was all he had. You said you were going to give him some time to warm up. You are clear of the entire situation. Does Mr. Yau (Andrew Yuen) have some misunderstanding? Unless… someone misled the boss and wants to take credit for my work.
Gordon: Don’t say such hurtful things. Don’t say steal. I used a lot of effort before to explain our proposal to Mr. Yau.
Molly: Not us.
Gordon: Of course it’s us. “Singles Shopping Event” was composed by us.
Molly: We pulled an all-nighter. You only put in two sheets of paper and now calling it as ‘our’ proposal?
Gordon: I never wanted to take credit of your hard work, or why else would it be as thick as a textbook? But… my two pages were the main point.
Molly: Don’t tell me nonsense. Truth is, you stole my idea to sell to Mr. Yau.
Yam Gor: Molly, calm down, honestly speaking, did you guys think of this idea together?
Molly: Yes, but all the research and data…
Yam Gor: Good, let’s not talk about the small details, I just want to talk about the overall picture. Then did Gordon think of the idea of gifting movie tickets for purchases?
Yam Gor: There we go! So the proposal was done together. There’s no wrong. Mr. Yau sees your hard work, but also appreciates Gordon’s creativity. If you two can work together, it’ll be best. What do you think?
Gordon: We definitely can.
In episode 3 of My Unfair Lady, Saving Cheng (Vincent Wong) tells Cherry Ling (Natalie Tong) that he wants money, but he is not greedy.
Cherry: As long as you tell me things about Gordon (Frankie Lam), Molly (Jessica Hsuan) will give you a check every month.
Saving: Wow, that means I’ll have double salary every month?
Cherry: You are so desperate for money, you won’t reject right?
Saving: Done. Here.
Cherry: What? Taking a picture is equivalent to accepting it?
Saving: Let me tell you. I can sell anything, but will not betray people. It is most important for people to be righteous. Without righteousness, it’s hard to get anything done. This check… just pretend as if I once had it.
Cherry: Even greedy has it’s bottom line?
Saving: Let me tell you. I am not greedy. I am just thrifty. Bottom line is the same as an underwear. No matter how thrifty you are, you still must wear one. Take this [check] back.
Cherry: Ok… Keep your underwear.
In episode 2 of My Unfair Lady, Cherry Ling (Natalie Tong) decides to cut ties with Hanson Ho (Chris Lai), her boyfriend of four years after finding out he is just composed of lies.
Cherry: You don’t have to say anything.
Hanson: Why are you so mad? Is there a need? I still have some time before boarding the flight, so I decided to talk with you. But honestly, if the Hong Kong men working in China told you they didn’t have a woman there, it wouldn’t be normal right? Compared to other men, I am not the one taking initiatives. They came to my side.
Cherry: Hanson Ho!
Hanson: Originally, we were fine. But you insisted on seeing [my phone]. No one wants to hurt you.
Cherry: We’ve been together for four years.
Hanson: I know. The truth always hurts. But you are already 30 something. Be more mature.
Cherry: You lied for a good four years.
Hanson: The women in China are just a game. You are different. I treat you seriously.
Cherry: Seriously? This is called taking it seriously?
Hanson: What are you throwing? I’m trying to clear things up with you. I’ve been together with you for four years and paying off an apartment for two years. Is that not called wanting to get married? You are almost going to be at a high-risk pregnancy. Did I not want you for that? And my mother loves you dearly. Where can you find a mother-in-law like that?
Cherry: Do you know what you are talking about??!!
Hanson: See, you are like that! When I tell lies, you say I’m fake. When I tell the truth, you don’t want to hear. That puts me in a very hard position. It’s time for me to take my flight. Goodbye.
In episode 1 of My Unfair Lady, Molly Ling (Jessica Hsuan) lets others know who has the authority, including telling her dog when to poop.
Molly: Training. Intensive training. Teach them until they learn. Train them until they know it. If they don’t even want to have money in their pockets, OUT!
In episode 23 of Provocateur, Cyrus Ling (Jonathan Cheung) wakes up from a hangover, to be comforted by Amber Zou (Roxanne Tong), although he still refuses to talk about what happened between him and Ringo (Fred Cheng).
Amber: How are you? Awake? Feeling better? Have a glass of water.
Cyrus: My head hurts. By the way, how did you bring me back last night?
Amber: Like how you did in the past with me, a piggy back ride.
Cyrus: You finally know how great I am in the past?
Amber: What? I am mighty as well. I even broke my no-alcohol streak. So… why did you drink so much last night?
Cyrus: It was nothing.
Amber: But is it related to Ringo?
Cyrus: Don’t ever mention this person again. I have decided to never help him again.
Cyrus: You don’t need to ask anymore.
Amber: Ok, I won’t ask anything. If you are not going back, I won’t go back either. I’ll go wherever you go.
In episode 22 of Provocateur, Cyrus Ling (Jonathan Cheung) drinks for the first time in a long time. After a heated argument with Ringo (Fred Cheng) in the rain, he gets drunk at a bar and Amber Zou (Roxanne Tong) goes to get him instead.
Amber: Woah, why are you all wet? What happened?
Cyrus: I’m fine. Drink with me.
Amber: I thought you usually don’t drink. What’s happened?
Cyrus: Amber, good thing you are still by my side.
Amber: You only tell the truth when you are drunk. Hey… Let’s go home ok?
Amber: In the past, you would always bring me back home. I’ll bring you home this time. In the future, no matter what happens, I’ll always be at your side. I won’t leave you alone, you know?
Cyrus: Yes, I know.
