Episode 01: Kent Cheung (Alex Fong)“Give me some time. I will prove to you that I am worth this price.”
-Charles (Lau Dan) goes to find Kent (Alex Fong), persuading him to join Donald & Co. Kent wants a 50% share of all the cases as opposed to the 40% partners usually gets. He tells Charles he will prove himself worthy of the deal.
Episode 02: KC Lau (Liu Kai Chi)“When he wanted me to join [the firm], he said anything and promised me everything. Every sentence and every word he said, I still remember so clearly. He said he was tired. He said he wanted to find someone to take his position. He said he would retire in three years. He said he did not want to work, only wanting to be the spirit of the firm. But no, he wants to be king of the world! I told myself. If he pretended to lose his memory, I would remember word for word. If he wanted to lose his promises, I would remind him of every single one. If he wants to kick me out, I will fight to the very end. I will play with him, to see who is out at the end.”
-KC (Liu Kai Chi) tells his wife Mary (Becky Lee) how Charles (Lau Dan) persuaded him to join Donald & Co. three years ago, but did not fulfill any of his promises and now wants to kick him out of the law firm.
Episode 03: Martha Fong (Mandy Wong)“I’ve regretted many decisions in my life, but the thing I do not regret is having had him as a mentor.”
-Martha (Mandy Wong) and Hazel (Ali Lee) see Kent (Alex Fong) after trying to settle a case. Hazel knows Martha’s first mentor was Kent, with him failing her after 1 year 11 months of apprenticeship, with 2 years being what was needed to pass. However, Martha tells her she did not regret having him as a mentor, although Kent does not seem to like Martha during their encounter.
Episode 04: Kent Cheung (Alex Fong)“What they want is different from what I want. They want power. I want money.”
-Kent (Alex Fong) explains the reason why he decided to join Donald & Co. to his secretary Patricia (Florence Kwok) and apprentice Nick (Matthew Ho). He knows Charles (Lau Dan) is asking him to join the firm so he can take some of KC’s (Liu Kai Chiu) power, although there are more company politics that he can imagine.
Episode 05: Hazel Cheuk (Ali Lee)“I picked this road for only one reason: because I am the only daughter of Charles Cheuk. I know choosing this path would make him happy.”
-Hazel (Ali Lee) informs her father Charles (Lau Dan) that she wants him to mandate Kent (Alex Fong) to stop interfering on her case, whether he does so personally or as his superior, only for Charles to say he does not want to do so. He tells her he did not force her to become a lawyer, nor did he force her to join Donald & Co. But she tells him that she became a lawyer knowing that decision would make her father happy, even if she does not want to deal with the firm’s complicated politics.
