Best GirlfriendsAlthough they never formally said goodbye when Zhao Mosheng (Tiffany Tang) went to the United States, she quickly clicked again with Xiao Xiao (Viola Mi). Xiao Xiao was mad at her for not contacting her, of course, not knowing the reason why. As they were best friends in college, they soon grew close to each other again, after Mosheng helped Xiao Xiao find evidence to fight against rumors that ruined her reputation. After the incident, they began to hang out more and both of them began to share their life events with each other. For example, Xiao Xiao was the only friend who knew Mosheng registered marriage with He Yichen (Wallace Chung). Mosheng later found out Xiao Xiao was pregnant with Lu Yuanfeng’s (Yang Le) baby. These two friends show friendship is not about jealously or anger, but about spending time with each other.
Best PartnersHe Yichen (Wallace Chung), Yuan Fei (Lin Peng), and Xiang Heng (Zhao Cun Lun) attended the same university and studied law. The three opened a law firm together, a pretty well-known firm within the industry. The three each have their own personality. He Yichen is strict, Yuan Fei is playful, and Xiang Heng is a little of both. They are able to maintain balance. They are partners, but also good friends outside of work. Xiang Heng is Yichen’s listener and ‘psychologist’. Xiang Heng knows the storyline to the love story of Yichen and Zhao Mosheng (Tiffany Tang). These three partners show partnership is not about competition, but rather working with each other.
Bickering CoupleLu Yuanfeng (Yang Le) and Xiao Xiao (Viola Mi) did not start on good terms from day one. But, as fate would have it, they would always be there by each other’s side when something unfortunate happens. The other would be there to mock and make fun of the other, a form of ‘comforting’. After Yuanfeng’s failed relationship with He Yimei (Joyce Jian), he and Xiao Xiao drank until drunk one night and end up in bed together. Thinking she is pregnant, Yuanfeng announces he will take care of her and the baby. Scared to face him, Xiao Xiao hides at He Yichen’s (Wallace Chung) apartment. This couple shows that two unlikely couple can be together, even when it means bickering along the way as means to communicate.
Jealous SisterHe Yimei (Joyce Jian) is the younger sister of He Yichen (Wallace Chung), but not by blood. Having always seen him more than just an older brother, she challenged Zhao Mosheng (Tiffany Tang) in college to compete for Yichen. Later on, Yichen tells her that once ‘that person’ has appeared in one’s life, everyone else seems unimportant, hinting that Mosheng is the one he will continue to wait for. After a failed relationship with Lu Yuanfeng (Yang Le), she meets Zhang Xu (Liu Cheng Rui) at Yichen and Mosheng’s wedding. It is at that point that she realizes what Yichen had meant. She shows life is a navigation path and it might take several wrong turns before one heads to the correct direction.
Annoying Ex-HusbandYing Hui (Kevin Tan) is CEO of INSO, a large technology company, and also known as the ex-husband of Zhao Mosheng (Tiffany Tang), but only on legal documents so they could adopt Mosheng’s neighbor’s son at the time. Although Mosheng only saw him as a friend, it is obvious that he hoped that time would take its course and they would eventually become husband and wife. He regrets encouraging Mosheng to go back to Shanghai, but when he realizes that she had gotten back together with Yichen, he starts to show his true colors. He tells Mosheng that their divorce papers were never finalized and they could start brand new again in the US, but in reality, he forged the divorce papers. Ying Hui shows that aggressiveness does not work out and truly loving a person does not mean having to necessarily be together, as long as knowing the other person would be happy is enough.
Their LoveSeven years of mystery, anger, and confusion stood between He Yichen (Wallace Chung) and Zhao Mosheng (Tiffany Tang). But little by little, they began to open up to each other again and found the love they never lost for each other. They stand by each other to overcome obstacles: their scarred memories of their families and Mosheng’s ex-husband, Ying Hui (Kevin Tan). This couple shows that letting go of the past will bring on a brighter future. They truly display what it means by love is patience and patience is key.
