Episode 06: Jack Lau (Vincent Wong)“Actually, in life, out of the elements: career, love, family, health, any one of them can suddenly experience a drastic change. But we cannot just let that defeat ourselves, you understand? Like… maybe… if you are uncomfortable, or if you have something deep in your heart, you can always tell me anytime. I’m… I’m here, I’m a good listener.”
-Jack (Vincent Wong) cooks a homemade dinner for Miss Choi (Selena Lee), complete with sliced oranges. He lets her know he is always there to be a listener, if she is willing to say what her troubles are. But, without a word, she quietly walks away. Annie holds a mysterious past that she is unwilling to show to anyone.
“Everything is going according to your predictions right? Actually, is there anything that I do not know?”
-Even at home, Martin (K.K. Cheung) and Joyce (Kiki Sheung) speak as if they were talking about business at work. Even as a couple, they are still so formal with each other. This also shows that Joyce is superior to Martin and regardless of at work or not, he still obeys her. In this particular conversation, Joyce had decided to go with the younger brother with the bidding for a project because he offered more revenue, but this angers Martin because he is closer to the older brother of that company.
-Miss Choi (Selena Lee) meets with her friend Annie (Toby Chan) at a bridal boutique. Miss Choi indirectly tells Annie that she should not bother Jack (Vincent Wong) if she has decided on marrying her fiancé. Miss Choi sees how Jack is being used by Annie, although he does not think so.
-Joyce Lei (Kiki Sheung) speaks with Peggy (Eliza Sam) regarding the incident where newbie model Nana (Kayi Cheung) tried to frame Miss Choi (Selena Lee) and her for flushing a HKD500,000 diamond ring down the toilet. They realized it was fake, but they had no evidence, so Peggy tried to borrow money from her Auntie Joyce. However, Joyce seems to enjoying the process of how this incident will go on and is reluctant to lend her money immediately. Although her motives are not obvious, it is hard to decipher her as a person.
-Miss Choi (Selena Lee) is awakened by Jack’s (Vincent Wong) off-tune and off-pitched recorder playing late at night. She follows him downstairs and drags a chalkboard to him, telling him to list out Annie’s (Toby Chan) good habits and bad habits. After Jack breaks down saying he cannot, Miss Choi tells him something he is sure of too. Since a long time ago, Jack had already godified Annie, and therefore when he lost her, he blamed everything on himself, even though truth was Annie dumped him for a richer man. It hurts Jack, but he knows he must move on and forget Annie.
