Soon after Juan Jie’s (Wang Xiao Ling) husband Cruise came back, Juan Jie accidentally stabbed him, being sentenced to three years in jail. Juan Jie asked Zhao Mosheng (Tiffany Tang) to look after her son Shao Jia. Cruise came back for Shao Jia’s custody, but Mosheng was reluctant to give Shao Jia back to his abusive father. She had no choice but to write to the student she had sponsored three years ago. That student is Ying Hui (Kevin Tan). It turns out the $500 Mosheng sponsored him with allowed him to survive his toughest month. He did not have to sell his search provider INSO for money, and thus became the successful man he is today. After Mosheng told him her current situation, Ying Hui spoke with his lawyer, to which he suggested to have Mosheng marry him.
Shao Jia was originally sent to an orphanage, but because he was abused by his father when he was younger, his IQ was not of average. After being hospitalized after getting his head sunk in the toilet, Mosheng decided marrying Ying Hui was the best way to obtain custody of Shao Jia. Before they married, Ying Hui had his lawyer draft a prenuptial agreement. They would only be a married couple in name. Mosheng did not have to take the responsibilities of a wife. Three years later, Juan Jie was released and she decided it was best to move back to China with Shao Jia. Ying Hui asked Mosheng to move to California with him as his parents were visiting and news of his marriage had somehow got to them. From his actions, she speculated Ying Hui had once loved someone dearly as well.
Mosheng did not want to rely on Ying Hui’s connections for a job. She also could not get her mind of He Yichen (Wallace Chung). One evening, Ying Hui came back drunk and almost forced Mosheng to become his wife under the law. She escaped but at the same time, knew it was time to go back home, no matter what the past was. Ying Hui wondered if a man was willing to wait seven years for Mosheng. He has kept a careful eye under Mosheng. After seeing pictures of him and Yichen, he decides to fly back. Tao Yi Jing (Zhang Nai Ou) is introduced as the new employee taking Wen Min’s (Song Zi Qiao) place. They discuss that men should be the new topic for the magazine as the issue with David Morgan on the cover proved to be highest in sales. The chief editor has picked Yichen as one of the possible candidates to be the cover.
