A man with a gold mask appears in the open grass field. He is the first to snatch the red flag from all the other competitors. From what people think, he’s Prince Makey of Raya. But, actually he is Kamin (Weir Sukollawat Kanarot), the bodyguard of the prince. The second round of the competition is to fight another bodyguard: the first to point the sharp stick into the other’s heart wins. It is an exciting match. Everyone in the crowd wants to see who is capable of winning. At last, Kamin wins. He receives the golden swords for his victory from King Inthra (Toon Hiransap) and Queen Sawitri (Kaew Apiradee). Upon eye contact, King Inthra realizes this is not his son. General Witoon (Tapakorn Tisayanan) also realizes this is not the prince. Thinking he has completed this mission successfully for Prince Makey, Kamin goes to change, but is challenged by Suthep (Arucha Tosamat), who wants to have a duel again. Suthep knocks off his gold mask, revealing Kamin to everyone.
Shifting to Thailand, Mattana (Min Pechaya Wattanamontree) walks down the stairs for a Mother’s Day themed photoshoot and everyone is stunned by her beauty. She insists on using lily flowers instead of jasmine, annoying the person in charge. At the end, she gives up, but will not smile naturally. When asked to, Mattana poses all sorts of weird and wild poses, infuriating the woman in charge Mintra (Kratip Chawallakorn Wanthanapisitkul), her sister, pulls her outside and reminds her the purpose of the photoshoot is to help her keep her reputation.
Back in the kingdom of Raya, Kamin is being questioned by the King and the Queen. He explains that he had to substitute for Prince Makey in the competition because he accidentally allowed him to go outside of the kingdom. Queen Sawitri believes that Kamin hid Makey, so that he could show the entire kingdom he is better than the Prince. Even with another royal bodyguard, Sintorn’s (Hem Hemmawat Nittayaros) explanation, the King decides to punish Kamin. Chawan (Bon Chernyim) goes out to find Prince Makey (Louis Hesse d’Alzon) fooling around with a female actress, Krenika (Praewa Praeissarha Pookawanuch). King Inthra finds him there and tells him he is a disgrace to the kingdom of Raya.
Back to the photoshoot, after the first rounds of photos, Mattana was supposed to take pictures with kids. But the woman in charge decides to have Akanee (Panu Suwanno), a nerdy-looking man, be the male model instead. Akanee is the son of an inspirational businessman. He said after seeing Mattana for the first time, he has fallen in love with her. During their photoshoot, he hugs tightly onto Mattana, which Mattana responds to by stepping on him with her thin and narrow heel of her shoe. It turns out Akanee paid the woman in charge to be part of the photoshoot. Mattana destroys the memory card with all the pictures for her revenge. Akanee is waiting outside for Mattana with his sportscar. Mattana drives off in his car, with him hanging on his seat.
Upon returning to the palace, King Inthra punishes Prince Makey, because he is not regretful for his actions. Everyone is ‘forced’ to ask the King to forgive him. But King Inthra rejects as all people in Raya should be punished equally, whether a commoner or a royal.
Mattana drives Akanee to a wakeboard park, forcing him to play, which results in him drowning. News report of this incident go viral and Mattana’s aunt comes to ask Mattana’s mom, Manavika (Angsana Buranon) about this matter. Mattana’s mom has royal blood in her, but she married a commoner, so her sister looks down on her and tells her to teach Mattana well so their family name would not lose reputation.
King Inthra punishes Prince Makey by whipping him, but just as the whip is about to slash him, Kamin rushes out and takes it. He says he is willing to take the punishment for Prince Makey. Kamin moves away, after much persuasion that he should not go against the King. But when King Inthra whips the second time, he clenches his chest and falls to the ground.
Mattana returns home, with her mom showing her pictures from the iPad. Instead of putting all the blame onto Mattana, she says she is disappointed in Mintra for not guiding Mattana well.
Sintorn brings ointment to Kamin and tells him he feels unjust for him always planning and helping Prince Makey, including helping him take his punishments. Prince Makey comes into the room and helps Kamin apply the ointment. Kamin persuades Prince Makey to apologize to the King instead. In King Inthra’s bedroom, General Witoon suggests to find a wife for Prince Makey to stop his playboy attitude. Queen Sawitri tries to stop Kamin from seeing the King, but he insists on seeing Kamin instead.
Mattana’s mom punishes her by making her kneel, but six hours later, she starts nodding off and lies down to sleep on the floor. Her mom walks into this and Mattana tries to fake her legs are numbing to get out of the situation. Her mom decides to lock her in until her birthday. Mattana’s dad, Thammarath (Trin Settachok) receives a call from King Inthra, asking if he still remembers the promise they made 20 years ago. He rushes home to discuss this with his wife. Mattana overhears this and thinks this is a joke.
In the same room, Prince Makey discloses to Kamin and Chawan that he is really in love with Krenika. Afraid that she will not make a good Queen, Kamin makes Prince Makey promise that he will not give his earring to a woman until he comes back. Kamin leaves without telling the Prince where he is headed to.
In their living room in Thailand, Thammarath explains to his wife and daughter about the promise. He and King Inthra studied at the same university and were very close, almost like brothers. During their last year, they made the promise that their future children would marry each other. The two friends kept in touch with one another upon graduation. When Mattana’s dad was at the verge of bankruptcy, King Inthra supported him financially. With all that he’s helped him, Mattana’s parents make it clear that she must marry the Prince of Raya.
Mattana tries to make her escape by asking Haymon (Moo Poosana Buangam) to buy her a plane ticket to Hong Kong. She spots her aunt at the airport and tries to run away from her, accidentally bumping into Kamin. She drops her plane ticket without knowing and runs off. Mattana only leaves a letter to her parents, thanking them for taking care of her, but she cannot promise to marry the Prince. Only until receiving a call from Mattana’s dad does Haymon find out that Mattana had planned to escape and not take a one-day trip to Hong Kong as she had told him. Her dad begins a search party to hunt her down.
It turns out King Inthra had asked Kamin to go to Thailand and bring back Mattana, who will be their future queen. The King knows that General Witoon has been pushing his daughter Haruetai (Tubtim Anyarin Terathanapat) to marry Prince Makey, so he can gain more respect in the kingdom. The King does not agree to this, although he knows Queen Sawitri abides to this.
Mattana continues running away from her aunt, and bumps into Kamin again, who gives her back the plane ticket. Seeing that her aunt is near, Mattana hugs Kamin to prevent her aunt from seeing her face. Mattana lies to Kamin that her dad is forcing her to marry a mafia leader who already has four wives. Kamin agrees to escort Mattana to the boarding gate. As a lot of airport security guards are looking for Mattana, Kamin suggests she hide in the bathroom for the time being. It turns out that Kamin goes to inform Haymon about where Mattana is and she gets caught.
Prince Makey is forbidden to leave the palace. The King is curious to know if Kamin has encountered Mattana yet. One of the royal guards assures the King that Kamin will report to him after attending Mattana’s birthday party.
At Mattana’s birthday party, Kamin attends it, disguised as a news reporter. The woman who was in charge of the photoshoot earlier sees the handsome Kamin and starts telling him everything about Mattana. Perfect way to get all the updates and gossip! Mattana thinks of a brilliant idea, where she makes a fool out of herself while doing the traditional Thai dance. This entertains everyone, except her mom and her aunt. Mintra and Haymon are also clueless to what is going on. When Mattana’s mom goes up to the stage to stop her from any more embarrassment, a man pulls out a gun…
The lakorn starts off strong, showing the kingdom of Raya and Thailand at the same time. We see what is happening in Raya. Then it shifts focus to what is happening in Thailand. Our main leads, Kamin and Mattana do not meet until almost the end of the episode.
I cannot guarantee how often I will post about the series. It’s all dependent on whether I have time or not… Enjoy!
