Merry Christmas to all of you around the world! Here it is, inspired by the 20 Questions Lakorn Challenge, this one is for TVB. This accumulates to over ten years of watching.
How did you start watching TVB?
I started from way back. My parents would rent tapes and we would gather around to watch. At that time, it was only watching a few episodes during the weekends. But, I would say starting from 2005, I’ve watched almost all the TVB series that have came out, with the exception of the few I dropped or skipped.
Your all time favorite TVB series?
‘A Journey Called Love’, starring Steven Ma and Linda Chung. We see how Steven transforms a party MK girl (Linda) with a kind heart to being who she really was to begin with.
Your least favorite TVB series?
I can’t really remember any from previous years. But, this year, it would be ‘Bullet Brain’. I should have dropped that after the second episode. What is it even about??
Your favorite TVB series Theme/Sub song?
‘The Last Breakthrough’ Theme song, 心呼吸 (Heart’s Breath) by Raymond Lam. Although it’s been 9 years since the series aired, that song sounds so strong and so powerful, better than most of his songs now! It is also an inspirational and motivational song.
The last TVB series you finished?
‘Bounty Lady’, Dayo Wong already equates to laugh through the episodes. But, he and Kate Tsui really create sparks!
What TVB series are you currently watching?
‘Return of the Silver Tongue’ (Seems like another plot-less series to me.), ‘Coffee Cat Mama’, and ‘Come Home Love’ (More than 400 episodes into it, TVB has decided to once again add more. They really don’t realize enough is enough.).
A TVB series you looked forward to but disappointed you in the end?
Recently, it must have been ‘Always and Ever’. After all, it was Bobby Auyeung and Esther Kwan, so I thought it would be naturally good, but soon after the pre-modern era, I couldn’t take it anymore and just had to drop it.
A TVB series you started without expectations but loved it in the end?
Recently, ‘Inbound Troubles’. I had no idea it was going to be so comedic with Wong Cho Lam, Roger Kwok, Joey Meng, Ivana Wong, and Louis Cheung.
Preferred TVB series type (revenge, ancient, modern, romcom etc)?
I prefer modern and romantic comedy, although I don’t mind ancient series, if the language and storylines are understandable. And please no more of those with abstract storylines (such as ‘Men With No Shadows’ or ‘Bullet Brain’).
Favorite male/female character?
Ng Yuk Hing (Angie Chiu) from ‘Point of No Return’. She thinks about everyone in the family before she thinks about herself. She would rather people think her as selfish before she reveals the intentions behind what she does.
Least favorite male/female character?
Recently, it’s Laura (Harriet Yeung) from ‘Bounty Lady’. She was really freaky and creepy!
A TVB series character you’d like to be friends with in real life?
From this year, probably Holiday (Fala Chan) from ‘Triumph in the Skies II’. She’s so funny and has such a bubbly personality.
A TVB series character you’d marry in real life?
Cannot think of any at the moment.
TVB series have some villains once in a while. Who makes your blood boil the most?
Amber (Grace Wong) from ‘The Hippocratic Crush II’ wasn’t really a villain, but she brought Ben and Mei Suet so much trouble! I’m glad she realized she needed help!
A TVB series character that is most like you?
Cannot think of any at the moment.
Most memorable TVB series confession?
Wayne (Vincent Wong) to Hailey (Selena Li) in Wish and Switch. Wayne grew up not knowing how to express his feelings, so he had to go to NY to take a course of expressing one’s emotions, and in the last episode, he comes back home to ask Hailey to marry him.
Most memorable first meeting of the main couple?
I guess for this year, it’ll just be Sam and Rachel (Ruco Chan and Linda Chung) from ‘Brother’s Keeper’. Rachel gets kidnapped and Sam, the policeman saves her, and they end up falling in love at first sight. The others, well, TVB gets clichéd on how the main couple meets.
Favorite TVB series ending?
Recently, ‘Bounty Lady’. It was happy ending and I like happy endings. Dayo and Kate’s cross-dressing were quite unexpected.
Top 3 couples in a TVB series?
Well, this is a hard one. Alvin and June (Benjamin Yuen and Lin Xia Wei) from ‘Til Love Do Us Lie’, Ben and Mei Suet (Benjamin Yuen and Mandy Wong) from ‘The Hippocratic Crush II’, John Ma and Alexandra Wan (Lai Lok Yi and Queenie Chu) from ‘Come Home Love’ (they aren’t together yet, but hopefully soon).
Top 3 actor/actress pairing?
This is another hard one. So many to choose from!! Bosco Wong and Niki Chow, Vincent Wong and Nancy Wu, and Bosco Wong and Myolie Wu (yes, they’ve broken up and will never be paired again, but one can reminiscent right?).
