After Thara Himalaya, I was ‘obsessed’ with Aum Atichart. It was kind of like a phase when I started to browse through his series to watch. I think I saw a picture of Aum and Aff in Jam Loey Rak, so I decided to watch it.
Harit (Aum Atichart Chumnanont) is the owner of a pearl farm. He plots to take revenge on Sansanee (Joy Rinlanee Sripen), who dumped his brother Harin (Hack Rungruang Anantaya). The breakup caused Harin to commit suicide. And because Harin was the closest person Harit had, he was furious to take revenge. On the day that he kidnaps who he thinks is Sansanee based on a picture his brother took with a girl, Harit actually kidnaps the wrong person.
She is Soraya (Aff Taksaorn Paksukcharoen), Sansanee’s cousin. Soraya went to live with her cousin, aunt, and uncle at a young age due to the economic burden her mom had. Because her aunt and uncle have financially supported her, Soraya feels obligated to serve them. She does whatever Sansanee and her aunt request her to do. She also believes Sansanee saved her from drowning one time during when she was young.
Harit brings Soraya to the isolated island he owns. There is no one else there, except for a monkey and his mute servant. Although Soraya keeps telling Harit that she is not Sansanee, he refuses to believe her. On the island, Harit tortures her with all sorts of labor, from carrying buckets of water from the river to planting seeds and sowing the soil. However, both are aggressive: with Harit always thinking of different ways to torture Soraya and Soraya always being able to complete the ‘tasks’.
When Harit brings Soraya to his pearl farm, Soraya learns from his workers that Harit is actually a caring person, to her surprise. She picks up shells on the beach to make a necklace. Harit sees this and instead gives her a cheap pearl bracelet. She rejects but he insists on her to put it on. Soraya makes him promise that if she keeps the bracelet on, he will not harm Sansanee.
Slowly, Harit realizes that she is not Sansanee, but Soroya, a kind and gentle woman. On the day she leaves, Harit knows that he has fallen in love with her, but he knows he has to let her go back home. Once back in the city, Harit starts to flirt and court Sansanee, making her break up with her boyfriend Tawatchai (Chai Chatayodom Hiranyatithi). Harit tricks Sansanee into thinking he will marry her, but he is actually asking Sansanee’s father (Soraya’s uncle) for Soraya’s hand in marriage. Both Sansanee and Soraya are shocked.
Soraya returns to the suburbs, where Soraya’s biological mother resides, along with Nukul (Ryan Jett), a childhood friend. She wants to escape the city life of complexity. She knows she has fallen in love with Harit as well, but she knows that Sansanee also loves him, so she must let go.
Sansanee pushes Soraya to her greatest fear: the lake where she had nearly drowned in. Fortunately, Harit arrives to the scene in time to rescue her. Sansanee explains that she pushed her in the water as a way of getting back to her for taking Harit. It is also revealed at that point that Nukul was actually the one who rescued Soraya when she drowned at a young age.
When Sansanee finds that Harit deceived her as part of his revenge for Harin, she turns back to Chai in hopes that he will take her back. But he does not. At Harin’s grave, Harit promises him that he will take care of Soraya and vows to be her love defendant. Back on the island, Soraya ‘punishes’ him with the same manual labor Harit had tortured her with when she was held captive on his island.
I have to say, the beginning of the drama was pretty intense, with all the struggling scenes between Aum and Aff. This was the first ‘kidnapping’ I saw in Thai drama. I started to like Aff after this too.
