A friend recommended me the lakorn, so I gave it a chance when we had to stay home due to Hurricane Sandy in late October.
Alin (Anne Thongprasom) is a 30-year-old actress who has moved past the peak of her career. She is losing out job opportunities to the younger rising stars. This might be due to her wanting to be perfect personality. Her personality was a combination of her three aunts, of who raised her. Alin orders her personal lawyer, Thua Piak (Job Niti Samutkojorn) around and he takes all her orders because Alin’s father paid for his education. While on the verge of breakdown, Alin receives a phone call telling her to take part of a cooking show. She accepts the job, even though she has no experience with cooking.
Alin tells Thua Piak to help her find a cooking teacher. With little time, he only thinks of Din (Ken Theeradeth Wonpuapan), an old classmate of his. Din comes from a high-class family. But because his father died and his mother was a second wife, Din and his mother are mistreated by his half-siblings Lom (Yuan Nithichai Yotamornsunthorn) and Narm (Noon Sinitha Boonyasak). Only his eldest half-sister is able to manage the commotions and troubles set by Lom and Narm onto Din.
At first Din is reluctant to accept the job as her teacher, but Alin begs him and offers a good amount of money, making Din to rethink and take the job. During their first lesson on cooking, Din realizes that Alin has no cooking talents. Her finished products might come out nice and edible, but because she always messes up the procedures, they actually do not taste good.
Alin must compete with two other contestants to become the host of the show. On the day of the casting, Alin tricks the other two contestants to believe Anucha’s (Willie McIntosh) mother, the judge of the show likes spicy food, in which they prepare spicy dishes only for her to dislike them. Alin gets to be the host. Alin is also very polite when she meets Anucha’s mother, to which she really admires Alin for.
Alin, also realizes she has reached the suitable age of finding a right guy for marriage. So, it is love at first sight when she meets the boss of the cooking show, Anucha. Little does Alin know that Anucha actually has a daughter with his ex-girlfriend Sopitha (Sonia Pim Cooling). The lovers were separated because Anucha’s mother, who wants to be a politician looked lowly on Sopitha, who was only a pastry chef. Anucha still visits his daughter and ex-girlfriend secretly, without his mother knowing.
Sopitha is an old classmate of Din, when they were both in school to learn how to cook. Din had a crush on Sopitha before, but when she introduced Anucha as her boyfriend, it shattered Din and Din stood by her side after their breakup.
When they filmed the cooking show in the countryside, at Alin’s father’s farm, Alin, with Thua Piak’s help, persuaded Din to help her. Alin’s rival from the industry, Ming (Pei Panward Hemanee), who is also Lom’s girlfriend calls reporters to the scene to expose Alin’s truth of not being able to cook. Alin manages to mix all the ingredients in front of the reporters, but when bringing it to the kitchen to cook, Thua Piak would actually take out Din’s good tasting creations.
One day, when Alin forgets to tell Din she has a lunch date with Anucha, telling him to wait at her apartment for her to come back. While waiting, Din discovers her diary, in which she grades men based on her own standards, and of course Anucha has a pretty high score. Alin even goes as far as pretending to be different magazines to call Anucha’s assistant to find out more about him.
Anucha’s mother runs low on funds to support her campaigns and asks Anucha to ask Alin for money, as a way of investing in his company, his mother tells him. This is because she knows she has extra money to spare. Alin sees this as a closer connection to Anucha. As time goes on, Din is not only Alin’s cooking teacher, but also her coach on her love life.
Alin borrows Sopitha’s kitchen one time with the help of Din and they make pizza. After selling the pizza on the streets for a long time, Alin gets a sore throat from yelling and screaming to get her fans’ attention to buy the pizza. When she tells Din to buy her medicine the next day, she is touched that Din helped her boil herbal supplements to cure her sore throat.
When Alin gets drunk after drinking some alcohol, Din brings her home, but by then, he has already fallen in love with her. Din almost kisses her, but Thua Piak walks in. Around the same time, Lom, Din’s half-brother, finds out that Alin is rich and wants to court her to pay off his debts. Din’s girlfriend, Ming, finds out and rushes to the scene. The two women start a fight. Din rushes there as well to help stop the fight and put ointment on Alin. Anucha sees this and gets jealous.
Alin grades Din based on her standards in her diary. Another time, when she leaves Din alone in her house, Din looks at her diary once again and sees the low score she gives to him. He gets mad at Alin.
Alin finds out Anucha has a daughter with his ex-girlfriend from her father. But, Anucha tells her everything just before he proposes to her. As they are discussing their engagement plans, Alin realizes that she can’t really agree with Anucha on their wedding arrangements and decorations. Alin goes to find Din to help her, but Din tells her they can’t be friends anymore. Alin calls off the engagement when she realizes Sopitha’s daughter is Anucha’s daughter as well at Sopitha’s bakery.
Alin tries to tell Din that she, too has fallen in love with him, but he rejects her. Alin also changes the negative score she gave to Din to the full score of 100. Anucha disobeys his mother and finds Sopitha to apologize and tell her he really wants to be with her. Alin announces at a public press conference that she is currently dating Din and has never looked down on Din’s mother, knowing that she is a servant and mistress in the family, because she is a nice and sincere woman. Din is touched when he sees this on TV and goes to find Alin.
Ming overhears Din’s mother talking with a close servant about Din’s half-siblings’ mother. She thinks that until she dies (because she has been in a coma for years), the will cannot be read. Lom, who is desperate for money, unplugs her oxygen, killing his mother. When the will is read, everyone is surprised with the amount Din gets. Alin helps out at the funeral, helping Din prepare the food for the guests coming to pay their respects.
The police comes to tell them they suspect the mother’s death was a murder and everyone becomes a suspect. Not wanting to affect Alin, Din tells her she is bothersome to scare her away. Alin cries the entire night. Din comes to apologize to her in the morning. Before the police arrests Lom, he kidnaps Alin. Thankfully, Alin calls them in secret to give them clues to where she is. Din and Thua Piak comes to find her. Lom tells Din that Alin might say she loves him a minute, but can change her mind a while later.
This causes Din to rethink Alin. Anucha proposes to Sopitha and she accepts. Din starts to avoid Alin, until the wedding day of Anucha and Sopitha. Din is the best man and Alin is the bridesmaid. Din proposes to Alin just before Anucha and Sopitha were about to exchange vows. The two run out, making it seem like their wedding day instead.
This was a sweet series, with the theme being love and cooking. I later realized Ken and Anne were a couple that was paired up often because of the chemistry they had together. And once again, it’s a happy ending.
